You could spend a lot of money on a writing course, but that wouldn’t be tailored to your specific needs. Writing courses ask you to write lots of exercises, but if all you want to write are your stories, then that may lead to frustration. A personal writing coach tailors your author education to your needs. Let me use my expertise to help you further your dreams. I can help you to write your story from before the first draft right up to publication and beyond. Not only can I can teach you to do it well, I can save you a lot of time and frustration by helping you to avoid common pitfalls.
Along with my experience as an author, editor and publisher, I have a Trained Teacher’s Certificate and a lifetime in education behind me, making me well-qualified to coach you.
I offer three levels of support.
Manuscript appraisals:
I’ll take a look at something you’ve written and give you feedback in the form of notes on the manuscript and a written evaluation. $0.0015 per word for fiction ($0.0025 for non-fiction) plus $50. This is a good first option if you’re unsure if I’m the right coach for you. Read more .
Author Mentoring:
This is a higher level of feedback than you’ll get with a simple appraisal. I will go into details of what you need to do to improve your writing and give you directions for what to work on and how to go about it. You do the work, then send your improved writing to me for further feedback, and we continue the process until one or other of us feels we can’t make it any better. This is a good follow up to an appraisal where we can work on a chapter at a time to iron out the problems in detail. $35 per hour.
Coaching sessions:
A coaching session can cover a lot of material in a short period of time, so it’s the best option for those with little of it. Or coaching sessions can be used occasionally as part of the mentoring program for those times where there’s a lot to talk about. Authors find coaching sessions very helpful when they’re planning a book, setting up their Publishing accounts, need advice on setting up an author platform, or just need the extra support and inspiration that personal contact provides. $50 for a 40 minute Skype session at a time of your choosing.

Apart from my writing and publishing qualifications and years as a teacher, I’m patient, kind, supportive, know how to help people to create the book they want, and have an uncanny ability to inspire people. But at the same time, I’ll push you to get the best out of you. I’m also highly ethical and price my services at reasonable levels.
